Autumn interior styling 2023

While we never need an excuse to switch up the styling in our home, there is no better time to do it than the change of season! Soon the days will become shorter, and we’ll find ourselves reaching for layers which we haven’t done since the early days of spring. Not to play favourites, but autumn may just be our favourite season, full of layers and cosy textures to add much needed warmth to our spaces. To help you with your styling this autumn we asked our in-house stylists for their top 3 tips.

  1. Embrace heavier textures and fabrics

As we mentioned, layers are one of our favourite things about this season! Try switching out your lighter cotton and linen fabrics for a heavier velvet or faux fur. We love the Valencia velvet cushions and Denali faux fur range for this.

  1. Biophilic design

You may have heard this word ‘biophilic’ over the last few years and you can be sure you’ll hear it for many more to come. A design style that incorporates nature in our indoor environments and focuses on creating a calming space with a visual connection to the outdoors. The benefits of this design surpass simply interior aesthetics and is known to improve wellbeing, health, and productivity.  One of the easiest ways to bring this into your own home is through plants. Don’t worry, even the artificial ones have the same effect. Additionally look to add natural materials to the home such as wood, stone or bamboo.

  1. Organic shapes

Instead of your home doubling as an office, gym and whatever-else, this year we are focusing on creating mindful spaces that have purpose and meaning for us. By deepening our awareness of how our rooms make us feel, we’re drawn to creating a home that connects us with nature. Simultaneously including raw and organic textures and shapes to our spaces allows for a soothing atmosphere.
