Tips from our stylists autumn 2022

Autumn: the season where the sun takes a step back and nature is dressed in golden sunset hues. The weather begins to chill, just a little, and we look indoors to spend our days with family and friends. As we transition into this poetic season, we turn to new colours and styles to make our houses feel like cosy homes. To help you create this autumn sanctuary we dream of in your own home, we’ve asked our team of stylists for some of their top tips for the season ahead. Here’s what they said…

Layering

Layering is an important styling trend all year round, but perhaps never more so than in autumn when the weather can change overnight. The art of layering is to learn how to use each individual piece to make them work cohesively. We suggest choosing pieces in similar colours, yet different textures or complementing textures but in tonal colours. You can do this with your cushions, throws, blankets and even your floor rugs!

Style tip – If you’re looking to elevate this style even more, layer natural fibres like linen and cotton with tufted textures and velvet.

Back to nature

A key theme this autumn is creating mindful spaces within your home that transport you to the calmness of nature. We encourage you to choose deep, leafy green tones and earthy colours of rust and chocolate into your styling. These grounding tones will help you to enjoy a tranquil experience in a space that soothes the soul.

Additional tip – Organic shapes and natural fabrics will help confirm this theme throughout your home.

Sheer curtains

You’ll see a common theme amongst all our styling tips, they’re all designed to create a comfy, clam and cosy home! And this one is no exception; sheer curtains allow natural sunlight to shine in, creating that dappled light look we all love so much. If you are buying curtains for a bedroom or place you also need to block out light, sheer curtains can be placed over blinds so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Additional tip – Always remember to hang curtains well above your window to give the illusion of higher ceilings and an open space.
