Cotton Lyocell Linen

Our most environmentally friendly sheet yet, blended from 50% BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton, 40% lyocell and 10% linen. BCI cotton ensures better farming practices have been used to reduce water consumption and the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Lyocel is regenerated wood pulp that has been broken down to form a new fibre and linen is derived from the linen flax plant, a completely natural fibre.

Our cotton lyocell linen sheets have been OEKEO-TEX approved; which ensures the fabric has been tested and certified to be free of harmful substances.

Crisp or sateen?

The way in which fabric is woven contributes to its feel. Cotton sateen sheets, for example, are softer than those with a classic flat weave. A sateen weave has more warp threads on the top surface, resulting in a silk-like touch. Which is better? It’s a matter a personal taste; some people prefer the crispness of a flat weave, others like the softness of the sateen finish.

Poly cotton

Polyester cotton is a blend of the two fibres. Easy and affordable, this synthetic fabric is incredibly durable, the polyester working to increase the lifespan of the product.

Do thread counts, count?

Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into 10sq centimeters of fabric. There is a common misconception that the higher the thread count, the better the quality of sheet. A quality sheet should be determined by the type of fibre, and the way it makes you feel – you’re the one that has to sleep on it!

Does thread count matter?

Flannelette yarns are very thick, so the weave can only fit around 110 threads per area of fabric. It is measured in weight (gsm – grams per square metre) rather than thread count. The yarns are thick as they are brushed and fluffed up, helping trap warm air, making them the perfect choice for winter.
