Pillow Talk x Bare and Boho x Cass Deller

At Pillow Talk we’re all about Australian, quality and comfort (of course!). Which is why our collaboration with Bare and Boho felt so natural. An Australian brand who focuses on producing high quality and sustainable products for new mums. We sat down with the founder, Jordan, as well as the designer of our exclusive Pillow Talk prints, Cass Deller.

Jordan, Can you tell us a little more about Bare and Boho and how it was founded?

In 2016 I began seeking waste-free solutions for my family. As a young and first-time-mum to my son, I was especially inspired to ditch the mountain of disposable nappies and disposable wipes I found myself using during those early months, and so my journey towards seeking sustainable solutions began. Bare and Boho was launched in 2017, with our first pallet of stock, and overnight sold out.

Do you have favourite print of the collection?

That’s a tricky one to answer, considering I have all the prints lovingly scattered around my home! (Of course the samples have made their way home from the office as I just couldn’t wait to start using them!)

But I must admit, I am a big lover of neutral, minimalist and coastal designs, so whilst they absolutely all tick those boxes, “Earthy Lines” would have to be the favourite of mine.

I think Abstract will be a fan favourite among the little folks!!

All the products are incredible but is there one that really changed your life?

I am personally loving a few key products from this range that are in constant rotation in our home! The feeding range are simply so adorable, my second son is 3 years old, and at the determined age of self-feeding at all costs, of which mum wants to ensure his clothes stay clean and our glass and dinnerware stay intact!

As for me, I have been using my own Nappy Pod so much too! Whether I am away for business or with the family, this is the perfect storage cube for carry on luggage to hold clothing and toiletries.

Could you explain your design process for new products?

Our ethos at Bare and Boho has always been to design and create products that are first-and-foremost functional; and secondarily, aesthetically beautiful.

Functionality for our team, means that we are solving key environmental problems, such as keeping excessive waste out of landfill, at the same time as serving families with supportive solutions that tick boxes in their everyday life. All the while, finding ways to help families reduce their household budget over the longer term with such reusable and high quality products.

Cass, what was your inspiration behind the designs for the Bare & Boho + Pillow Talk collaboration?
We really tried to bring an organic, earthiness to this collection in a really subdued and simple way. I love working with watercolour for this style of design, as the medium itself feels very soft and calming. We have really infused this collection with the feeling of nature.

Do you have a favourite pattern?

I am always moving between really simple patterns and more intricate designs. The ‘Earthy Lines’ print has a special place in my heart because when I paint this style of design it always reminds me of the ocean water flowing, and this style is just so calming to paint.

How did you come to work with Bare and Boho?

Jordan and I have been working together for years now. It’s been so beautiful to work with each other over such a long period of time and see each other’s business grow. We have worked on such a wide variety of designs & collections throughout the years, and it’s just so beautiful to be able to collaborate in this way too.
