Celebrating Mother’s Day

Celebrating Mother's Day

Mum’s are amazing, aren’t they? We encounter so many different types of mums in our lives; with each deserving of being celebrated in their own way. From having our own mothers or grandmothers, to being a mum ourselves, a work mum or even a fur-mum!

Though mums’ have it tough sometimes, they are always there when we need them. Mother’s Day may take on different meanings for everyone, and we all have our own way of celebrating, but it’s important to acknowledge the sacrifices and support that they offer in our lives.

So, we at Pillow talk would like to say thank you to all the mothers that have touched our lives in one way or another by sharing some of the moments from our Mother’s Day photoshoot, with members of our staff.

Gail & Matt

Celebrating Mother's Day

Our customer service guru Matt invited his beautiful mother, Gail along to be a part of Pillow Talk’s Mother’s Day campaign, where the pair warmed our hearts when they filled the room with laughter. When talking about Mother’s Day between takes, they share an easygoing relationship where their unique sense of humor is a treasured family trait. However, this family trait hasn’t always been a blessing, with Matt’s ironic stubborn teenage years filled with humorous quips causing Gail some grief. Even though Matt is still stubborn, it is now considered one of his more loved characteristics.

Celebrating Mother's Day

Mother’s Day for the family is usually spent over lunch or visiting Matt’s grandmother, Granny, in her nursing home where many a memory has been made. More notably the time Granny saw the elephant tattoo on Matt’s arm. After receiving the silent treatment for the next hour, it was only fair that Gail owned up to her matching tattoo that the pair had gotten 4 months prior. Only described as a very amusing moment.

P.S. Do you recognise this blanket? It was lovingly made by Gail, and featured in our comfort commercial last year.

Taryn & Fred

Celebrating Mother's Day

With her first Mother’s Day as a fur-mum coming up, Taryn our resident PR gun plans to spend it spoiling her charming yet energetic puppy Fred. The 5-month-old cocker spaniel is still learning the ropes of how to be a good boy, while Taryn’s patience only grows with Fred’s ability to pull puppy dog eyes. Being a fur-mum has definitely changed her perception on motherhood explaining to the office the hard work that having a puppy has entailed. With Taryn’s parents currently travelling, her plans for Mother’s Day include a picnic at the dog park with Fred…and partner Iain.

Celebrating Mother's Day

Always excited to head home after a day of work, Taryn is smitten with her adorable pup, gushing over her favourite daily moments. Number one being the moment Fred makes his way over to her side of the bed in the morning and she sees his tired little eyes as he says hello with a tail wagging.

Michelle, Courtney-Rose & Montana-Leigh

Celebrating Mother's Day

Hoping to be photoshopped into Elle Macpherson, single mother Michelle, who is our merchandise planning wizz at Pillow Talk, and her two daughters Courtney-Rose and Montana-Leigh were brought to tears when thinking about the memories of Mother’s Day’s past. The fondest being the handmade cards that her daughters present each year without fail. Starting at a young age, Michelle begged her daughters not to spend their pocket money on gifts and would be content with their company. The pair decided to make cards at home and fill them with lovely messages about their mother.

Celebrating Mother's Day

This year Mother’s Day will start with breakfast in bed, hopefully including the fluffy pancakes Courtney-Rose has mastered in the kitchen; while Montana-Leigh makes the tea. The family love to experiment with all sorts of cooking and baking. Cakes and scones are a favourite go-to, with the traditional trimmings of jam and cream.

Bianca, Wendy & Maxine

Celebrating Mother's Day

With her mother Wendy usually working on Mother’s Day, Bianca, Pillow Talk’s assistant merchandise planner is a big fan of a virtual celebrations, sending her mother a warming Mother’s Day message each year. When waist deep in work, Wendy always pauses to remember the significance of Mother’s Day to her. While sitting on the lounge at Pillow Talk’s Mother’s Day campaign shoot with her step-mother Maxine, Wendy talks about how only 7 years ago she met her biological mother and her small family of 3 grew, with 20 new family members now sharing memories.

Celebrating Mother's Day

The heart-felt family all share the belief that Mother’s Day has so many meanings for different people. While sharing a lounge the three talk about being or having a ‘work mum’ that offers support and advice throughout the working day. Maxine is a motherly figure to a younger woman at her work that is without a network of family support, while Wendy is a mother figure to many friends and peers. Bianca believes it’s all about that level of trust and being a mum figure to whoever needs that person. Displaying a family with so much love to share.
